Gernot Rohr sacked as Super Eagles coach-REPORT

According to Owngoal, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has been relieved of his position as coach of the Nigeria Senior National team.

The decision to sack the Franco-German gaffer was reportedly taken after a company associated with the senior National team of Nigeria agreed to pay the termination clause in the contract of the coach.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is said to have communicated the decision to the former Niger and Burkina Faso coach, and have started the search for a new coach who will pilot the affairs of the team for the 2022 World Cup Playoffs and also the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year.

Rohr was the longest-serving manager of the Super Eagles; overseeing 54 matches.

During his spell, he qualified Nigeria for both the AFCON 2019 and Russia 2018 World Cup.

While the Eagles settled for the Bronze at the last AFCON, they crashed in the first round at the Mundial
