HT UPDATE: Chelsea lead Juventus with Chalobah goal
Chelsea are presently enjoying a 1-0 lead in their matchday 5 UEFA Champions League clash against Juventus.
Though the Blues only required to avoid defeat at Stamford Bridge to seal their place in the Round of 16, they are going the extra mile against the Italian giants who are leading the park in Group H.
It was young Trevor Chalobah that scored the all-important goal that gave Chelsea the advantage at half time.
Juventus were let furious with the Chelsea goal because Ziyech’s corner appeared to hit Antonio Rudiger on the hand before dropping to Chalobah to rifle home.
It looks like it takes a nick off a Juve defender just in front of the German, though, and perhaps that’s why VAR decided the goal stands.
Chelsea have never beaten Juventus in 12 years but they are 45 minutes away from doing that at Stamford Bridge tonight.
With Manchester United qualifying for the Round of 16 earlier, Chelsea will become the third English team in the knockout phase since Liverpool had qualified much earlier.
