UCL: Chelsea vs Juventus preview, team news, injuries, and predicted line-ups

The clash is one to look out for as it promises loads of excitement and competition.

Chelsea vs Juventus is a fixture a football lover would not want to miss. It will be a clash of titans when the defending champions host the Old Lady in a UEFA Champions League Group H game on Tuesday.

The clash is one to look out for as it promises loads of excitement and competition.

Juventus won the reverse fixture in Turin before going on to seal a place in the knockout stages with four wins in four matches. Chelsea needs just one point to qualify for the Round of 16.

The defending champions are doing well in both Europe and locally, maintaining their three-point lead at the top of the Premier League table with a routine win at Leicester City on Saturday.

Chelsea is also a high-scoring side, they strode to a 7-0 victory over Norwich City and put three past both Newcastle and Leicester. Those goals have been coming from all quarters of a confident side, as Chelsea’s 30 Premier League strikes this term have been scored by 15 different players.

As they return to continental action, Juventus can boast a remarkable record of 14 wins from their last 15 group games. For that reason, they will bring some hard-earned confidence to English soil, where they remain unbeaten in five matches since a notorious 4-1 loss at Chelsea’s west London rivals Fulham in the 2010 Europa League.

Injuries

Having been without both of his main strikers following injuries suffered on Champions League duty, Thomas Tuchel has been able to welcome back both Romelu Lukaku (ankle) and Timo Werner (thigh) to training in recent days. Though the former may not play on Tuesday as he needs time to bounce back fully.

Mateo Kovacic has been out since suffering a hamstring injury in training late last month, while wing-back Marcos Alonso only returned from an ankle injury at the weekend.

For the Old Lady, Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey is sidelined again and captain Giorgio Chiellini’s presence is once more in doubt due to an Achilles problem.

The kickoff time is 9 pm and the game will be played at Stamford Bridge.

Ref

The center referee for the match is Srdjan Jovanovic from Serbia.
