Oshoala wins historic Champions League title with Barcelona

Another Nigerian player, Asisat Oshoala has achieved a historic feat with her club barley 24 hours after duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred achieved a milestone with Leicester City in the FA Cup.

Oshoala and her Barcelona women teammates won their first Champions League trophy on Sunday; beating Chelsea 4-0.

Oshoala who needed a late fitness test to make the squad for Sunday’s final.

The Super Falcons captain came on as a 71st-minute substitute as the Barcelona Women’s team finally won their first Champions League trophy in style on Sunday.

The Spanish club trounced their Chelsea counterparts 4-0 in the final match played in Gamla Ullevi, Gothenburg.

A poor first half display by Chelsea saw them crumbling and even though they improved in the second half, it was too late to change the outcome of Sunday’s final.

As for Barcelona, their spectacular show in first half ensured that the club emerged as the first club in Europe to win both the men’s and women’s Champions League crown.

In the 14th minute, Alexia Putellas doubled Barcelona’s lead from the penalty spot.

Barcelona kept the pressure on Chelsea and they got a third goal in the 21st minute.

Chelsea’s bad situation became worse as Barcelona added a fourth goal in the 36th minute.

Though there were no more goals in the second half, the mission was already completed for Barcelona and the damage for the Chelsea Women’s team who last weekend back-to-league title wins in England.
