2 reasons why Man United should have allowed Carrick to continue as manager
Michael Carrick bid Manchester United fans goodbye on Thursday night after their 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
He left with his head held high as he has written his name in the good book of history.
On Thursday night, Manchester United went down in the 13th minute. David de Gea had already fallen down after an encounter with his own teammate, but the ref did not blow and Smith Rowe’s strike just strolled inside the net unhindered.
However, Manchester United did not give up, they drew level just before the halftime whistle through Bruno Fernandes.
Ronaldo put United ahead seven minutes after the restart but the lead was short-lived as Martin Odegaard scored two minutes after Ronaldo’s goal.
Manchester United continued the pressure and Ronaldo converted a 70th-minute penalty to seal a 3-2 victory over Arsenal.
Here are two reasons why the Manchester United board should have handed Carrick at least a one-year contract as manager.
- Good record: Michael Carrick has a good record from the three matches he coached Manchester United to play.
All three matches were big games but he did not lose his composure and did not suffer any defeat.
In his first game following the sack of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Carrick beat Villarreal 2-0 away in Spain only two days after taking over.
After that game, his next task was to face Chelsea, a game he claimed a point from after a 1-1 result.
Carrick then beat Arsenal 3-2 on Thursday in his next game.
He played three matches and recorded two wins and one draw. Very good record.
- Discipline: Michael Carrick has proven that he is a disciplined coach and no player is bigger than the club.
He benched Ronaldo against Chelsea and only brought him in in the second half.
Thursday’s game against Arsenal saw him take Ronaldo off in the second half despite scoring two goals.
A coach with such discipline, who knows his game plan, will go a long way in his career.
