EPL: Iwobi enjoys late victory over Arsenal

Everton secured a late 2-1 win over Arsenal on Monday night in their Premier League clash at Goodison Park.

Rafa Benitez’s Everton side had gone eight Premier League matches without a victory before they finally got it right against the Gunners on Monday.

Both sides were desperately seeking a win to ease the pressure after painful midweek defeats to Liverpool and Manchester United but it was the Toffees that prevailed.

A stunning goal in added time from Demarai Gray saw Everton come from behind to beat Arsenal in a game that also saw Richarlison score with an instinctive header and, have two other ‘goals’ disallowed by VAR

The result reduces some of the pressure on Rafa Benetiz while denying Arsenal the opportunity to jump to fifth place in the standings.

Richarlison thought he had given the hosts the lead in the 44th minute, but he was deemed offside in the buildup.

Martin Odegaard’s goal in stoppage time saw Mikel Arteta’s side take the lead going into the break.

Richarlison was again ruled offside in the run-up of another effort in the 58th minute but was able to finally breakthrough with a header into the net 20 minutes later.

Gray then secured the three points with his stunning strike a few moments after Alex Iwobi came in as an 87th-minute substitute for Anthony Gordon.
