Gov. Zulum Stops NGOs from giving Food Items to Borno Residents

Babagana Zulum the Governor of Borno State banned all Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) from distributing food items to residents of Borno State.

This was announced by the Government in a letter signed by governor Zulum while addressing humanitarian organisations and development partners through United Nation’s office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.

“The Borno state government wishes to acknowledge and thank you for all your support to the people and government of the state and, in particular, your support for people displaced internally by insurgency.

“As you are aware, the Borno state government is deeply committed to supporting our people to build resilience and support themselves out of poverty.

“To this end, the government has committed to closing all official IDP camps in Maiduguri by December 2021.”

The governor said that henceforth, before items are distributed to the residence of the land by the NGOs, they must first collect clearance from the government in order to ensure that items are distributed to everyone properly.

He also thanked the NGOs for partnering with them and also supporting the people and the government.
