It’s Not True! Amotekun Haven’t Arrested Perpetrators Of Owo Massacre- Akeredolu Clarifies Conflicting Reports
Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has spoken on the controversies surrounding the rumoured arrest of the perpetrators of bloody massacre that happened in Ondo State in June.
The attack which occured specifically on June 5 at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo claimed over fourty lives with several people still at the hospital.
About a week ago, it was reported that some people were arrested by Amotekun operatives in connection with the crime. The security outfit was said to have handed them over to the police command in the state.
Clarifying the report of the arrest during the Monday edition of Channels TV Politics Today, Governor Akeredolu who is a special guest on the program said the terrorists have not been arrested yet.
According to him, the Amotekun moved into action immediately after the bandits struck and pursued them to the forest where they are reportedly hiding.
While fleeing, they abandoned their operational vehicle. The vehicle was recovered by Amotekun and taken to the DSS office.
DSS officials are therefore expected to use the vehicle to do their proper investigation that will consequently lead to the arrest of the people who carried out the attack on St Francis Catholic Church.
According to Akeredolu, DSS are specially trained in that regard to use such an evidence as a compass that will assist in getting to the root of the matter.
But for now, no one has been specifically arrested on the attack. The governor promised to make it public once anyone is arrested in connection with the attack.
