Chelsea 1-1 Everton: Player rating

Everton came from a goal down to grind a 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge in one of the English Premier League matches played on Thursday.

After a barren first half dominated by the home side, Chelsea still couldn’t score in the early stages of the second half as their attackers found it hard to put the ball past goalkeeper Jordan Pickford who was outstanding all through the game.

Chelsea broke the deadlock to ease the pressure off their impatient fans when Reece James supplied a good pass to Mason Mount who beat Pickford to score.

But that lead was quickly shortlived and lasted for just four minutes before Everton equalised.

Anthony Gordon flighted a sumptous free-kick towards the far post and 19-year-old Jarrad Branthwaite stuck out his leg to prod the ball past Edouard Mendy to send Chelsea back to square one.

This is how the both teams rated.

Edouard Mendy – 5/10 – He was less busy for most part of the game until he had to pick the ball out of the back of the net in the 74th minute.

Cesar Azpilicueta – 5/10 – He gets the same rating as his goalkeeper for often stepping into the midfield line to help Chelsea progress the ball.

Thiago Silva – 6/10 – A comfortable evening until Chelsea lost control in the second half.

Antonio Rudiger – 5/10 – A few of his trademark marauding runs caused Everton problems.

Reece James – 7/10 – One of Chelsea’s best performers on the night. A menace for the Everton defenders.

Jorginho – 6/10 – Orchestrated Chelsea from the heart of midfield, threading a couple of gorgeous through balls.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek – 4/10 – He still looks an awkward fit as a central midfielder.

Marcos Alonso – 3/10 – One of Chelsea’s poor performers.

Hakim Ziyech – 6/10 – A bright performance, drawing an early booking for Mason Holgate with his trickery.

Mason Mount – 8/10 – Chelsea hero on the night. He eventually made Everton pay in the 70th minute.

Christian Pulisic – 5/10 – Linked play effectively with Mount and Ziyech.
