The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial aspirants in Kwara State on Tuesday thanked the former Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Olubukola Saraki and the party stakeholders in Kwara Central and Kwara South for agreeing to unanimously zone the PDP gubernatorial ticket to Kwara North.

The letter of appreciation to Dr. Sararki, party leaders in Kwara Central and South was signed by all the eight gubernatorial aspirants from Kwara.

The signatories are Rt. Hon. Bio Ibrahim, a former Speaker of Kwara House of Assembly and former Minister of Transport and Sports; Hon. Aliyu Ahman Patigi, a former member of the House of Representatives; Ambassador (Prof.) Mohammed Gana Yisa; Hon. Isa Bawa and Alhaji Abubakar Musa Shamaki.

Others include Alhaji Ndanusa Kawu Adam, Barr. Saadudeen Alikinla and Hon. Zakari Mohammed.

The letter reads: “We the PDP gubernatorial aspirants from Kwara State wish to thank and appreciate the leadership of our party, the PDP and the entire members of our great party in the state and in particular, the critical stakeholders from Kwara Central and Kwara South for unanimously zoning the PDP gubernatorial slot to Kwara North.

“We are greatly indebted to our leader, Dr Bukola Saraki for his leadership role in ensuring that the zoning became a reality. This singular gesture for ensuring equity, fairness and justice will strengthen our party and undoubtedly will be a panacea for our victory in 2023”

“With this zoning, the entire people of Kwara North are committed to fully support whoever emerges as the party’s candidate and will massively vote for the party in 2023 general elections.”

Political leaders and technocrats in Kwara State praised Dr. Saraki and Kwara PDP for having the courage to do the right thing. They said that since 1999, power has rotated between Kwara Central and Kwara South with Central producing three governors (Mohammed Lawal, Bukola Saraki and Abdulrahman Abdulrasak) and Kwara South producing Abdulfafah Ahmed, while the Kwara North was completely excluded from power sharing.
