JUST IN: Buhari in emergency meeting with service chiefs — after ISWAP attack in Borno
The attack by the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) during President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Borno State on Thursday has forced to the president to enter into an emergency meeting with his service chiefs.
The meeting is taking place in the council chambers of the statehouse, Abuja.
On Thursday, the president said Nigeria was in its final phase in the war against an insurgency while addressing troops of the Nigerian Army in Maiduguri, Borno state capital.
Earlier, the Islamic State in West African Province (ISWAP) had launched multiple rocket attacks on Maiduguri ahead of the president’s visit to the city to inaugurate projects done by the state government.
Many houses were destroyed by the explosives that landed in several areas including Ngomari, Bulumkutu, Ajilari and Ayafe communities.
