WHO donates Items to stop Cholera in Adamawa State
The World Health Organization (WHO) has donated intervention materials to stop the outbreak of cholera in Adamawa State.
The items included oral rehydration solution (ORS), Ringer’s lactate solution (RL), water guard, aqua tabs, industrial boots, heavy-duty gloves, latex gloves, canulae, knapsack sprayers, IV sets, Jerricans, posters, face mask, banners, among others.
Mr Sameeh Omoleke, the WHO Adamawa State coordinator assured the government that the donated material will stop the transmission of the disease.
The Adamawa public health director, Laori Celine, during the ceremony thanked WHO for supporting the state in uplifting resident’s health status.
“We do appreciate WHO for this and other interventions in the health sector, especially in the ongoing response against cholera outbreak,” said Ms Celine.
“WHO continues to lead the cholera response by coordinating other partners and has provided commodities to sustain tackling the disease”.
“On behalf of the Adamawa state government, I want to assure you that we will make use of these materials effectively. We will deploy every structure within the health sector to get out of the situation,” Suleiman Bashir, Chairman of Adamawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency said.
Adamawa recorded 1,783 case of cholera with 54 deaths as of December 2021.
