Military rescue 2,155 banditry victims – Matawalle
The Governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle has said that 2,155 people kidnapped by bandits between the month of September 2021 to January 2022 has been rescued by his administration through the help of the military deployed to the state.
Ibrahim Dosara, the commissioner of information said this on Sunday in Gusau.
“We wish to register our deep appreciation to the military for upping the ante in recent times. The various military operations, the latest being that of Gando forest, have displaced the terrorists operating along the various axis and significantly degraded their capabilities,” stated Mr Dosara.
“The end to this horrendous crime could now be said to be in sight with greater optimism, more than any other time.”
He disclosed that the rescued victims include; women and children. Matawalle had on December 14, 2021 met with the President of Niger, Mohammed Bazoum as part of his efforts to end banditry in two countries.
