Obasanjo’s mango farm in Benue burnt
Donald Ikyaaza, Director of Benue fire service has confirmed that Obasanjo’s mango farm at Howa, Gwer Local Government Area has gutted fire.
He confirmed this on a telephone interview with a journalist in Makurdi on Monday.
According to him, the incident took place at about 2:00PM on Saturday and without delay, he deployed service men to put out the fire to prevent it from escalating to other places.
Mr Ikyaaza while addressing the journalist disclosed that, Emmanuel Ortserga the chairman, Gwer Local Government council, claimed that the fire incident was a deliberate act.
“The farm is properly safeguarded against all forms of disasters,” Mr Ortserga said.
He also added that 139 hectares and half of it was burnt down and that they have put everything in place to ensure that they trace and arrest the perpetrator of the act.
