JUST IN: Willie Obiano granted bail, but still in EFCC custody
Immediate past governor of Anambra State Willie Obiano has been granted bail, however, he is still in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Abdulrasheed Bawa, chairman of the EFCC, said Obiano is still in custody because he is yet to fulfill his bail conditions.
“He (referring to Obiano) has been granted bail. We are waiting for him to fulfill his bail conditions. He has been cooperating with us and everything is going on well,” the EFCC chairman said on Monday while answering questions from journalists at the 5th Annual General Assembly of the Network of National Anti-corruption institutions in West Africa (NACIWA), in Abuja..
Obiano was arrested on Thursday at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos, on his way to the United States, few hours after handing over power to the new governor of Anambra State Charles Soludo.
