W/Cup Q: Ghana finally announce 27-man squad to face Super Eagles – Arsenal, Palace stars included
Officials of Ghana’s Black Stars have finally announced a 27-man squad that will fight for the 2022 FIFA World Cup ticket against the Super Eagles, including Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey and Crystal Palace forward Jordan Ayew.
Nigeria and Ghana slog it out in a two-legged qualifier playoff this March.
In the list released, Mohammed Kudus and goalkeeper Richard Ofori are back in the Black Stars after missing the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon earlier this year due to injuries.
Coach Otto Addo in a brave move also included debutants Denis Odoi and Elisha Owusu. Both players who play in Belgium were not born in Ghana but have Ghanaian roots through their fathers.
Odoi, a former Fulham defender has earned his first invitation, at age of 33 after playing for youth teams of Belgium and making one appearance for the senior side.
French-born Owusu is 24 and hasn’t tasted international football.
The third debutant is Heart of Oak defender Dennis Korsah who is enjoying an impressive in the Ghana Premier League.
The first leg will be played on March 25th in Kumasi, while the return leg is slated for four days later in Abuja.
