The last has not been heared over the failure of the Super Eagles to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
Augustine Eguavoen, the former interim head coach of the Super Eagles, stated that he did not agree with the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) decision to remove Gernot Rohr.
In December, Eguavoen took over for Rohr ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, which begins in January.
The former international remarked on Monday Night Football that he was unhappy with the timing of Rohr’s departure.
Victor Ikpeba, a former Nigeria international in the studio, declined to blame Eguavoen for his country’s inability to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
The NFF, according to Ikpeba, should take responsibility for the Eagles’ absence in Qatar.
“Eguavoen did not agree with the decision to sack Gernot Rohr.
In agreement, Eguavoen added: “Yes, I complained about the timing as it was too close to the Africa Cup of Nations”.
