In a fierce battle that reportedly lasted for several minutes at Ihioma Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, Troops of 34 Artilery Brigade Nigerian Army has killed one member of IPOB on Monday.

The proscribed group was said to be effecting the usual Sit-At-Home order in the community when they encountered the troops who were on patrol.

Imediately they sighted them, the group who was reportedly riding in a Toyota Highlander towards Ihioma junction retrieved with an attempt to reinforce. The troop opened fire on them and killed on of the group members while the rest of them fled

Confirming the incident, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the director of Army Public Relations, said that having suffered a casualty and effectively denied freedom of action by the troops, the “irredentist group resorted to cheap propaganda to whip up public sentiments by circulating a doctored video on the social media alleging troops’ complicity in their mindless atrocities. Onyema said this propaganda should be disregarded in its entirety.”
