Gunmen Kill Two As Lawmaker Narrowly Escapes Assassination In Plateau

About two people have reportedly been killed in an ambush laid for a member of Federal House Representatives on Tuesday in Plateau State.

The federal Lawmaker, Musa Agaj Auta who represents Bassa/Jos Noth Federal Constituency escaped the assassination attempt alongside his wife and children who were traveling with him in the same vehicle.

According to a source who narrated the incident to Nigerian Tribune, the lawmaker, alongside his wife, children, driver and his personal assistant, was ambushed at Twin Hill in Miango chiefdom of Bassa Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that all occupants of the vehicle escaped unhurt, but the car was riddled with bullets by the gunmen.

A source said: “Although they all escaped unhurt, the car was riddled with bullets as the driver, against all odds, bravely manoeuvred the vehicle amidst the sporadic shootings by the attackers.”

However, two others who were on a motorcycle and ahead of the lawmaker’s vehicle reportedly ran into the ambush and were killed by the attackers.

It would be recalled that Hon Auta was elected into the House of Representatives through a by-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in February this year.
