Alaafin And 2 Other 1st Class Monarchs In Oyo State Who Joined Their Ancestors In A Space Of 5 Months
The death of Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has continued to shake the media space with a cyclonic reactions from across the country.
Oba Adeyemi reportedly died on Friday night at Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. Until his passage at the age of 83, the monarch was the longest reigning Alaafin in the history of Oyo empire.
With his death, the late Alaafin has enrolled his name in the list of first class Monarchs in Oyo state who have joined their ancestors in the last five months.
On December 13, 2021, the death news of Oba Jimoh Aderemi Oyewumi , the Soun of Ogbomoso hit the airwaves from the state.
The monarch died at the age of 95, after he had reigned for 48 years on the throne.He was buried on the same day according to Islamic rites.
Barely a month after the demise of Ogbomoso monarch, the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji also joined his ancestors.
The Ajeogunguniso 1 passed on January 2, 2022 at the age of 93 years old. The monarch who was the 41st Olubadan reigned for 6 years before he joined his ancestors. He was installed by the late governor Abiola Ajimobi on April 4, 2016.
With the death of Alaafin of Oyo on Friday, three monarch have now joined their ancestors in a space of five months Oyo State.
