Angry Youths Invade Police Station In Ondo, Threaten To Burn Down Station Over Recklessness
Anger, frustration and agitation reigned supereme in Odigbo Local Government area of Ondo State on Saturday over the avoidable death of three people allegedly caused by police recklessness at the checkpoint.
Youths in the council area invaded the Police Station to protest the death of the victims. They dumped their corpses in front of the station and demanded the police to vacate the town.
The incident which occured in Kajola along Lagos-Benin expressway on Saturday evening was said to have created tension among the residents of the community.
The victims, David Olowofeyekun, Gbenga Abayomi and Kola Akinduro were said to be returning home from their farms on a bike when they were reportedly killed by police at the checkpoint.
One of the victims, Kola Akinduro was a chief in the community.
The youths also accused the police of recklessness, extortion, intimidation and illegal arrest of innocent youths in the community.
They thronged the station in their hundreds with corpses of the victims, chanting solidarity songs and threatening to burn down the station.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Funmilayo Odunlami however exonerated her men from the accident.
She noted that the motorcycle rider who passed through one way caused the accident.
