One Key Message Osinbajo Sent To Presidential Aspirants At Aisha Buhari’s Dinner Despite His Absence

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s absence at the Iftar Dinner organized by the First Lady of Nigeria, Mrs. Aisha Buhari has remained a deafening sound that is ricocheting across the country.

Mrs. Buhari had put together a gathering on Friday evening where all Presidential aspirants across the major political parties gathered to wine and dine with one another under a friendly atmosphere.

The gathering also became a veritable platform for wife of the president to advocate for women to be considered for vice presidential position by the aspirants.

At the meeting which was largely atended by aspirants under the platform of the All Progressive Congress was punctuated with the loud absence of Professor Yemi Osinbajo, one of the leading presidential aspirants under the ruling party.

The vice president was said to have been in Ibadan on that day for a meeting with traditional rulers and his support group.

His absence at the dinner however triggered a nationwide speculations that the professor of Law was trying to avoid his erstwhile political benefactor, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is also a major contender for the party ticket.

Notwithstanding his absence, Osinbajo who was represented by a fellow lawyer, Professor Oserheimen Osunbor sent a critical message to all his co-aspirants who attended the Dinner.

In a speech presented on his behalf by his representative, Osinbajo said the event offered Nigerians from different faiths and background the opportunity to reunite with one another to foster unity.

“ It is an opportunity for aspirants from various political parties to meet one another and the lesson we should learn from here is to practise politics without bitterness as we move closer to election year.

“ We should try to imbibe the spirit of oneness because at the end of the election, only one person is going to emerge winner of the Presidential election next year.

“ So, it is not going to be do-or-die affairs, we should learn to practice politics without bitterness, ’’ The vice president said.
