Lagos Building Collapse: Death Toll Rises To Eight As Rescue Operations Continue

Not less than eight people have been confirmed dead in the three story building that collapsed on Ibadan Street, Ebute Meta.

RovingNaija had earlier reported sad incident occured on Sunday night around 9pm with yet to be identified numbers of victims trapped in the rubble.

In a statement by the coordinator of National Emergency Management Agency, Ibrahim Farinloye on Monday, it was confirmed that eight bodies of dead victims have been recovered from the scene.

The recovered corpses were deposited in some of the vehicles the emergency responders brought to the scene of the incident.

Thereafter, the corpses were taken to the mortuary.

 NEMA officials, alongside other emergency response agencies including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service; the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, and the police, commenced a search and rescue operation immediately the three-storey building caved in late Sunday.
