Akeredolu Tasks APC Leaders To Decide On Zoning, Says It’s Turn Of South To Produce President
Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu has refused to back down on his agitation for his party, the All Progressive Congress to zone the presidential ticket to the South ahead of 2023 general election.
In a statement personally issued on Tuesday by the chairman, Southwest Governors Forum, Akeredolu called on the party leadership to stop keeping party members in suspense over their decision on zoning.
According to him, if it was easy for the party leaders to fix 100 million naira for the nomination form, then it should not be difficult for them to make a pronouncement on zoning the ticket to the South.
He urged the party leaders to do this without delay, stressing that rhe principle of Federal Character is enshrined in the 1999 constitution, as amended.
The governor added that it would be disingenuous for anyone to argue against rotation at this period.
He said, we must not keep our party men and women guessing on the position of the position of the leadership of the party.
“This is the time to weigh in and take control of the process. No statement must suggest, even remotely, that the party harbours certain sentiments which may predispose to consider throwing the contest open.
