Atedo Peterside joins SDP
Seasoned Nigerian entrepreneur, investment banker, and economist Atedo Peterside (CON) has officially joined the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
Atedo – an alumnus of the City University, London and London School of Economics and Political Science as a member at Victoria Island Ward 2, Eti-Osa Local Government, joined the party on wednesday May 4, 2022.
Before he was presented with the party card, the 66-year-old stated that the party’s manifesto; the quality of the party’s national leadership; his own adjudged acceptability at the local/ward level of the party; the commitment and willingness of the party leadership to practise internal democracy informed his decision.
Other points are if the party’s doors are truly open to Nigerian youths who wish to claim their country back and if SDP is a place where he feels truly welcome?
Reacting to this development, Lagos SDP chairman comrade Adeyinka Dabiraoluwa is pleased with the national icon’s choice while enjoining other great minds to follow Atedo’s path.
“I am very happy with this move and no doubt this is a big plus for us at SDP,” she said per a press release made available by Lagos State publicity secretary Shina Oludare.
“This shows that the party is becoming significant and relevant. My wish is that more great minds join us on this noble course of making Nigeria great ahead.”
Peterside, who founded the plush Stanbic IBTC Bank, has used his visible public platforms to comment on, or influence politics and public policy in Nigeria.
Aside from this, he has also held various advisory roles to the government of Nigeria but never agreed to accept a full-time public sector appointment.
In addition, the is a co-convener of GoNigeria — an organisation that promotes good governance and encourages the youth to get actively involved in politics.
