Roadside Traders Narrowly Escape Death As Motor Accident Claims One In Akure

A middle-aged man has been killed in an accident that occurred on Monday in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

The accident was allegedly caused by a young man suspected to be a ‘yahoo boy’  who was said to be driving beyond the normal speed limit at Alagbaka area of the city.

The car was reportedly heading towards Igbatoro road where he knocked down the deceased by the Parliament Estate junction near School of Nursing.

Eyewitnesses said roadside traders by the junction escaped death as the Lexus car was prevented by cars put on sale beside a gaari stand.

It took the intervention of men of the Nigeria Police to prevent the driver of the car from being lynched as they eventually took him away from the scene.

Angry okada riders at the scene also attempted to set the car ablaze but later changed their minds due to closeness of the already damaged cars on sale.
