We Thought It Was A Joke When We Saw His Campaign Vehicles- Ebu Olu-Adegboruwa Speaks On Emiefele’s Saga

Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ebu Olu-Adegboruwa has slammed the governor of Central Bank, Godwin Emiefele over the controversy surrounding his presidential ambition and interest in the 2023 race.

The legal luminary who appeared as a special guest on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Tuesday decried the decision of the Apex bank Governor who is a public officer to consent to the idea of running for president under the platform of the All Progressive Congress.

Recalled that Emiefele who is yet to officially declared his interest for the top job has on Monday approached the federal high court seeking to stop the call for his resignation before contesting for the president.

The move was made shortly after a group of people allegedly bought the 100 million naira APC Nomination and expression of interest form for the CBN Governor.

This further fuelled the call for him to resign from the office he is occupying if he must contest.

Speaking on the matter on Tuesday from Lekki, Adegboruwa said if Emiefele can contest without resigning, then someone like Mamhoud Yakubu who is the INEC chairman can as well contest under APC without resigning his position.

He explained that when they saw his Campaign vehicles at the APC convention ground in March, people thought it was a joke and he can not be a party to that arrangement.

He noted that as a CBN Governor who is also the Chairman of Bankers Committee, it is unconstitutional, unethical and illegal to dabble into Politics while still in office.

Imagine someone who is saddled with the responsibilities of keeping electoral materials like Ballot papers, ballot boxes, Card readers and others is also a contestant in the election. Adegboruwa asked.

The legal icon inisted that Emiefele is not expected to be partisan. He said he has everything to be comfortable with his position. He had spent five years and he is into another term of five years. He has a private jet and he is placed on mouthwatering monthly salaries.

If he is not satisfied with all that, and still want to contest for president, courtesy demands he resigns and faces his political ambition instead of putting over 200 million Nigerians in an economic mess. Adegboruwa concluded.
