Buhari’s media aide Bashir Ahmad resigns

A directive given by President Muhammadu Buhari may have started taking effect immediately.

Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media and Digital Communications, Bashir Ahmad has resigned his appointment following his principal’s directive that his aides, including members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) seeking to vie for elective positions must resign.

Ahmad, who picked the House of Representatives nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is seeking to represent Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu in the Lower Chamber.

Checks by The Nation on Wednesday evening showed that Ahmad had removed the bio “Personal Assistant on New Media to @MBuhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria” from his profile on Twitter.

He now claims to be ‘Digital Communication Enthusiast’.

Ahmad is to challenge the incumbent occupier of the seat, Mahmoud Abdullahi Gaya, who is also of the ruling APC.

He is considered one of the youngest aides of Buhari having been appointed at 24.

Days ago, he shared some pictures holding forms.

He tweeted, “Just completed filling my part of the form and the rest will be done by my constituents, the good people of Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu LGs in Kano, whom I will by God’s grace be representing in the House of Representatives. May Allah (SWT) grant us VICTORY!”
