Ekiti Decides: I’m Contesting Because People Say They Want Me, The Pressure From Them Is Much- Segun Oni

Former governor of Ekiti State, Engr. Segun Oni has disclossed the real reason he is contesting the governorship seat for the second time after the supereme court cut down his second term midway in 2010, and declared Dr. Kayode Fayemi as winner of the 2007 governorship election in the State.

12 years after, Oni is now running under the platform of the Social Democratic Party after contesting the PDP primary and lost to Chief Bisi Kolawole,  the favourite candidate of former governor Ayo Fayose.

Speaking on his reason for contesting the seat on Arise TV Morning Show on Tuesday, Segun Oni stated that it was the pressure from his people in Ekiti that is making him to contest for the election.

He explained that the people of Ekiti State insisted that he must run for the election and he cannot turn down their request to serve them.

The ex-governor narrated how he constructed over 40 kilometers of roads during his tenure. How he empowered market women and made sure the state is placed among the states with quality and reliable healthcare delivery in Nigeria.

He said his achievements while in office have spoken for him and that is why the people are asking him to contest again and lead them for another four years.
