Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal has imposed a dusk to dawn Curfew in the state over the youths restiveness that greeted the killing and arrest of suspected killers of Deborah Samuel, the year two student of Shehu Sagari College of Education.
Deborah was gruesomely murdered on Wednesday following the purported message she was said to have dropped on her class Whatsapp group. The message was believed to have blasphamed Prophet Muhammad.
She was stoned to death and burnt by irate mob who invaded the school premises.
The killing had continued to spark an outrage across the country. On Saturday, the Sokoto State police command confirmed the arrest of some people suspected to be responsible for the dastardly act.
However, the arrest triggered a protest in some part of the state as the protesters demand for the release of the arrested suspects.
Attempt by the police to disperse the angry Protesters was said to have been proven futile as the protest became more intense.
Following the protest, governor Tambuwal declared a dusk to dawn Curfew in the state to quell the tension that has visited the state over the development.
The governor reportedly met with Muslim leaders in the state to discuss how the matter will not degenerate into a reprisal attack and violence in the state.
