Sokoto Boils As Protesters Demand Release Of Suspected Killers Of Deborah Who Were Arrested By Police
Fire of protest has ignited in Sokoto over the arrest of suspected killer of Shehu Sagari College of Education student, Deborah Samuel who was killed on Wednesday.
The protesters trooped to the streets shortly after it was reported that some people have been arrested in connection with the killing and were demanding for their release with immediate effect.
RovingNaija recalls that Deborah Samuel, a 200-level student of Shehu Shagari College of Education, Sokoto, was killed on Wednesday over alleged blasphemy.
The protesters, who stormed the streets in large numbers on Saturday, wielded placards with inscriptions such as, “Release our Muslim brothers”, and “Muslims Are Not Terrorists”, among others.
It was gathered that armed policemen fired teargas canisters to disperse the angry crowd, during which two persons were reportedly injured.
A source who spoke to Journalists said the protesters became violent and started hurling objects at the police
