2023: Before His Withdrawal, This Is How Peter Obi Promised To Treat Politicians Spending Dollars In Nigeria
Ex- Presidential aspirant under the People’s Democratic Party, Dr. Peter Obi has expressed worry over the desperation of other presidential aspirants to clinch ticket and run for election in 2023.
The former Anambra state governor who spoke on a Radio Station on Tuesday explained that there is scarcity of dollars at the moment in the country because of the forthcoming primary election.
He noted that aspirants have mopped up the dollars in circulation so as to have enough money to bribe the delegates and obtain their party’s ticket.
Obi said his ambition is not as important as that of Nigeria’s wellbeing and it is only when there is a stable economy that can make governance an easy task.
He decried the present situation where manufacturers are finding it difficult to manufacture goods in the country because there is no dollar to import raw materials and politicians are hoarding the hard currency for election.
He said if dollars were to be available in surplus, we would not be having the current exchange rate.
Obi explained that most government officials today have stopped spending naira because it is worthless. He said they are now spending dollars because they have it in excess.
He suggests there is need to trace them and prosecute them as saboteurs. He however said he would not join any aspirants to woo delegates with dollars or any currency.
He said he has plans for Nigerians and whoever wishes to remain in this economic situation should vote for aspirants with enough dollars to bribe.
But if he is elected as president and any official caught spending dollar, he or she will go to jail.
Peter Obi who was said said to have pulled out of PDP presidential primaries scheduled for this weekend stated this on Tuesday while appearing on a Radio Station broadcast by Arise News and monitored by RovingNaija.
