EUROPA: Injured Chukwueze makes history with Villarreal

Samuel Chukwueze and his Villarreal teammates have qualified for the Europa League final for the very first time in their history.

Having beat Arsenal 2-1 at La Ceramica thanks to goals from Manu Trigueros and Raul Albiol, the Yellow Submarines went to London and secured a 0-0 draw in the second leg to seal their place in a European final for the first time in their history.

This is a sweet victory for Unai Emery, who was sacked by Arsenal the season before last.

Nicolas Pepe had scored late on in that game with what could have been a crucial away goal, but it wasn’t to come to pass in the end. Villarreal held tight to secure a massive result for the Spanish side, in a game that really mattered given neither side’s league form guarantees them a European spot next season.

In the other semi-final tie, Roma saved face with a 3-2 win over Manchester United at the Stadio Olimpico.
Having lost the first tie 6-2, the Italian side knew they have almost no chance of progressing but they gave a good fight against the Red Devils to win Thursday’s five-goal thriller.’
Stadion Miejski in Gdansk, Poland is the venue for the 2021 Europa League final which will hold on May 26 and UEFA has confirmed that fans will be allowed to attend this season’s Europa League final
