This is a big slap on our democracy – Lagos SDP condemns Owo terror attack

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Lagos State has condemned the attack on in Owo, Ondo State Nigeria.

Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Sunday morning invaded St Francis Catholic Church, in Owo Local Government where scores of worshippers were killed after mass.

Outraged by the ugly happening, Lagos SDP chairman Ms Dabira Adeyinka stated such obnoxious acts represent the kind of extremism that threatens to bring all of Nigeria into a kind of spiral from which it is very difficult to emerge.

While consoling the families of the deceased, she fingered the Muhammadu Buhari-led government for its failure to provide adequate security for Nigerians.

“Our party commiserates with the catholic diocese of Ondo State and the good people of the Sunshine State at large at this very difficult moment,” Adeyinka said in a statement made available to the media.

“At a time when we expect things to be getting better, it is so sad that we have hit another low as it concerns security in this great country.

“This dreadful attack has heightened the fact that the present Nigerian government once again have failed the country. This is a big slap on our democracy, and we cannot continue like this.”

While calling on the country’s security agencies to do all it takes to fish out the culprits and ensure all hands are on deck to halt future occurrences, Ms Adeyinka urged Nigerians at large to get their PVC ahead of the 2023 elections.

“As we mourn the demise of our loved ones, I appeal to all Nigerians to get their PVC as we need to weed out this clueless government,” she continued.“We are tired of bloodshed in this country and now is the right time to start working our talks. Forget the naysayers who feel your votes will not count; just make sure you do all it takes to get your voter’s card. God bless Nigeria.”
