Man United announce Cavani, Pogba, Lingard and Mata among 11 players released

Manchester United have announced a list of 11 players that have been released by the English Premier League club following the conclusion of the 2021/2022 season.

In terms of the first team, it has already been confirmed that Edinson Cavani, Lee Grant, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata, Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba are leaving United, the club said in a statement on Friday.

In the Academy, five players will depart on 30 June, when their contracts are set to expire. As ever, those players will continue their lifelong associations with the Academy.

D’Mani Mellor, Reece Devine and Connor Stanley have received support in finding new clubs. Mellor made one appearance for the first team, playing in the Europa League tie with Astana in 2019, to ensure he featured in every age group for United.

Goalkeeper Paul Woolston announced that he has been forced to retire through injury in March. He continues to stay in close contact with the club as he begins the next stage of his career.
