Atiku lambasts PHCN, Buhari’s govt over darkness in the land

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has lambasted the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and the federal government over the collapse of national electricity grid.

The national electricity grid crashed from a peak of 3,703 megawatts to as low as 9MW on Sunday.

Nigeria witnessed widespread blackout on Sunday after the national grid collapsed around 6.49pm, before engineers from the Transmission Company of Nigeria strived to ensure the recovery of the grid.

Reacting to the setback, Atiku lamented that every other sector is also collapsing including the economy, security, unity and state of the nation.

“The darkness that has enveloped the nation in the last couple of days with the collapse of the national grid is a metaphor for the collapsing state of our nation: collapsing unity, collapsing security, collapsing economy, collapsing education, collapsing well-being and collapsing value of human life and dignity,” Atiku said in a tweet monitored by RovingNaija.

Atiku urged Nigerians to vote out the ruling All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general elections and enthrone a better pathway for the New Nigeria.

“My expectation is that Nigerians will collapse the ruling APC in kind via the ballot and enthrone a viable pathway for the New Nigeria of our dreams that will be united and stable, prosperous and awash with opportunities; secured and inclusive. As One, we can get it done.”
