What Actually Led To The Discovery Of Quran In Room Of Prostitute Lynched & Burnt To Death In Lagos

A commercial sex worker with the name Saliu Hannah was reportedly beaten, lynched and burnt to death recently in Lagos.

According to the report on Punch Newspaper, Hannah who is a northerner was a professional sex worker who was based in Lagos.

It was gathered that after servicing a customer and got paid her service charge of one thousand naira, the contract ended and the customer left.

Shortly after that, she discovered that her 5,000 naira kept in the room was missing. Apparently believed it was the customer that stole it, she ran after him on the street. On catching up, she accused him of stealing the money.

Angered by the allegation, the customer in company of his friends who are Hausa Youths returned to Hannah’s apartment in search of the missing money.

During the search party, they discovered a copy of Holy Quran in the room. Asking what the Holy Book was doing in her room, she said it belonged to her.

Angered by her response, they told her it is wrong to keep such a Holy Book in the room owing to the nature of the job she is doing.

They were said to have descended on her, beat her to pulp and set her on fire. It was the search for five thousand naira that actually led to the discovery of the Holy Book in her room. If she had not raised an alarm over her money or accused the customer of stealing it, she would have perhaps still been alive today.

The suspect had since been arrested by the Lagos state police command.According to the spokesperson of the command, Benjamin Hudeyin,  “The case is at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Yaba, and three suspects have been charged to court.
