What Tinubu Said On His Choice Of Muslim Or Christian Running Mate
The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the party’s 2023 presidential flag-bearer, Bola Tinubu has revealed that his running mate would be a Christian.
There have been speculations that the ruling party is making moves to pick a Muslim-Muslim ticket for the 2023 presidential race.
The alleged move has received a barrage of reactions from party stakeholders, religious groups, leaders and concerned citizens who argued differently about their reasons for supporting and rejecting the rumoured bid.
Tinubu has, however, faulted the viral claims of him picking a Muslim-Muslim ticket, stating that he intends to pick a Northern Christian as his running mate.
It was gathered that the former Governor of Lagos State gave the clarification while addressing journalists at the APC governorship rally in Ekiti State on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, ahead of the state’s governorship election.
Tinubu rubbished the reports, describing the carriers of the claims as undemocratic elements. The presidential hopeful said the carriers of the untrue report were only being threatened by his imminent victory in the coming presidential election.
“The VP slot belongs to the Northeastern region and particularly the Christians, but consultations are yet ongoing as to who will be decided,” Daily Post quoted Tinubu as saying in Ekiti State.
Tinubu assured Nigerians that no group, institution or person can impose a running mate on him.
