Lawmaker Explains Predicament After Showing Screenshot Of His Monthly Salary

Honorable Leke Abejide, the Lawmaker representing Yagba East/West Mopamuro Constituency is one legislator who is not finding things funny when it has to do with delivery of legislative responsibilities to members of his constituency.

The Lawmaker while appearing on Channels TV Sunrise Daily on Thursday gave details of his monthly income including Constituency allowance and what is expected of him from the people.

Hon. Abejide proved his statement by disclosing the screenshot of his monthly salary on TV. According to the content of the screenshot, the Lawmaker is earning a sum of N697,911. 

He explained that being a lawmaker is not as lucrative as people believe it is. There are staffs salariesto pay monthly. Constituency members are expecting something from him at the end of the month, so is the state governor.

He also disclosed that people who have one or two financial problems see him as their last bus stop. He noted that people come with different complaints like School fees for their children, naming, burial and wedding ceremony and all sorts of needs that can not be accounted for.

He said all this expenses are taken care of with his constituency allowance and at the end, he has nothing to boast of or Constituency project to account for.

The Lawmaker disclosed that his constituency allowance is 113 million naira in a month. 18.5percent of it goes to the governor. About 30-40 million naira goes to people with different financial problems. What comes to him at the end of the month is less than 1.5million naira. Yet, he has children and his relatives to take care of.

Hon. Abejide said anyone who is doing well in his business will not want to come into the system. It is such a frustrating one.
