Peter Obi Reveals There Is Pressure On Him To Leave The Country

Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi has confirmed there is pressure on him to leave the country over the controversies trailing the aftermath of his loss of the Presidential Election.

Since the conclusion of the February 25 presidential election, the former governor of Anambra state has consistently been in the news for his decision to reject the outcome of the election and file a lawsuit to challenge the result and declaration of the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as president-elect.

The recent development about the leaked phone conversation between the Labour Party standard bearer and the founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo further put Obi in the eye of the storm.

Obi, in the viral audio conversation, was said to have pleaded with Oyedepo to help him fight a religious war against the ruling APC and convince his church members to vote for a Christian presidential candidate.

In a press Statement issued on Wednesday, Obi denied ever having such a conversation on phone with Oyedepo. He revealed that APC is making all attempts to blackmail and force him to leave the country.

The statement reads in part:

“The present attempts by the APC as a Party, and the APC Led-government through some government officials and agencies to divert our attention from our blatantly stolen mandate is unfortunate and sad.

“These have come and continued to manifest in different ways, such as the malicious accusation of the Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed, the circulation of a fake doctored audio call, and pressure on me to leave the country.

“Let me reiterate that the audio call being circulated is fake, and at no time throughout the campaign did I ever say, think, or even imply that the 2023 election is, or was a religious war.

“These have come and continued to manifest in different ways, such as the malicious accusation of the Minister of Information, Mr Lai Mohammed, the circulation of a fake doctored audio call, and a pressure on me to leave the country.”

The statement has however generated reactions on social media.
