How Olubadan Responded After Sunday Igboho Slammed Him For Conferring Title On Gov. Ganduje & Wife
Since Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Lekan Balogun conferred a chieftaincy title on Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje and his wife, Hafsat there has been mixed reactions from members of the public especially from the Yoruba race.
The governor and his wife were conferred as Aare Fiwajoye and Yeye Aare Fiwajoye of Ibadan on Saturday.Reacting to the development, the self acclaimed Yoruba freedom fighter Sunday Adeyemo in a recorded video condemned the monarch saying he is giving chieftaincy title to underserving people.
Igboho noted that Ganduje has never done anything to deserve the kind of honour being conferred on him and his wife in Ibadan apart from being an in-law to the late former governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi.
Reacting to Igboho’s statement through his spokesman, Oladele Ogunsola, the Olubadan stated that even though Igboho has his right of opinion, he must also remember that others too have the right to do certain things.
Olubadan reminded Sunday Igboho how Governor Ganduje has been protecting the interest of Yoruba people especially the Ibadan indegens in his domain.
He explained that the governor is currently embarking on a building project in the university of Ibadan despite not being an Indigene of the State.
He further drew the attention of the activist to how Ganduje rushed down to Ibadan during the Yoruba and Hausa crisis that occured at Shasha market last year.
The statement noted that Olubadan is too refined as a monarch to start looking for who to honour with a chieftaincy title. It further stated that it was Ibadan people through their traditional ruler in Kano that recommended Ganduje for the title considering the kindness the Governor demonstrated towards them.
He however advised Igboho to ask questions on what he doesn’t know to avoid hasty conclusion.
