Police Constable, Nura Mande Gets Reward For Returning Missing $800 to Owner In Kaduna

By Tolulope Popoola

In a country where dishonesty seems to be a norm even amongst the younger citizens, a public officer has singled himself out amongst the crowd, choosing to stick with honesty 100 percent.

This seems to be something that can be likened to the attributes of a pacesetter, as a Police Constable, Nura Mande, somewhere in Katsina state, returned the sum of $800 he found while on special duty at the Hajj camp, to the owner, Hajiya Hadiza Usman Chamiya.

The 65 year old owner, Chamiya, happens to be one of the intending pilgrims from Kaduna for this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

Spokesman for the Katsina state police command, Gambo Isah, stated that Nura Mande found the money at about 12.30 a.m on Thursday, 23 June 2022 within the premises of the Hajj camp.

Constable, Nura Mande Receives Letter Of Commendation

He said, “The honest, hardworking and dedicated police officer found and returned the $800 equivalent to N480,000,000 to the owner, one Hajiya Hadiza Usman Chamiya, 65, of Kusada Local Government Area, Katsina state.”

He further made it known to members of the public that the state police Commissioner, Idris Dauda, has already presented the police constable with a letter of commendation for his integrity.

“Meanwhile, the State Transport Authority had already gifted the constable with a cash reward of N30,000.00 for “his display of honesty and integrity”, Isah added.
