UPDATE: Witness Gives Detailed Account Of How Herdsmen Stabbed Danfo Driver, Conductor To Death For Killing 2 Cows

It was an eye for an eye situation in the badagary area of Lagos on Monday when two herders reportedly stabbed a commercial driver and one other person to death for killing two cows.

The incident which happened at Agemawo area of Badagary was said to have thrown the vicinity into panic as people watched the incident from afar off.

According to an witness account, the Herdsmen occupied the road with their cows in an attempt to cross them to the other side. The danfo driver who was on speed rammed into their midst and knocked down two of cows. They died immediately.

The herder was said to have intercepted the driver and demanded for financial compensation for the dead cows. After so much argument, the driver agreed to pay a sum of 500,000 naira for the cows.

In the process, other drivers who are his colleagues stopped and told him not to pay because he was not at fault. They argued that the herders were to blame for crossing cows in such a busy road at that rush hour. They told him the herders will pay for damages if the matter gets to court.

Angered by that position, the herder held down the alleged driver and stabbed him to death. One other person who was believed to be his conductor was also stabbed to death in the process.

Other drivers who intervened and told their late colleague not to pay reportedly fled the scene. 

The incident was confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officers, Benjamin Hudeyin, saying two people have been arrested in connection with the killing.
