Reno Omokri, the former media aide to the ex president Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the order by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission that any landlord who rents an apartment to internet fraudster will be sent to 15 years jail term.
The order was made on Tuesday by the EFCC chairman and Nigerians have been reacting to the development since the statement was issued.
Internet fraud has been a serious menace that is trending among the Nigerian youths in the recent time.
Despite the constant arrest and prosecution of offenders, the crime has refused to abate among the Youths who are notorious for the dirty business.
The latest statement from the EFCC chairman is meant to curb the hydra headed monster and deter youths from engaging in financial crimes.
It is also to serve as deterrence to landlords who are believed to be aiding and abetting such crimes from the Youths having been threatened with 15 years jail term.
However, Reno Omokri has a different perspective to the development. The right activist cited the case of former Accountant General of the federation who allegedly stole 80 billion naira that he has not been jailed.
According to him, the EFCC is simply major in the minor and minor in the major. He asked the commission to go after the former accountant general and other public office holders who have been accused of stealing billions of naira belonging to Nigeria public before going after the Youths.
Similarly, Omokri asked how will the landlords know if their tenants are yahoo boys?
The social media influencer asked this question on his verified twitter handle on Wednesday.
