If You Don’t Want Me To Say The Truth, Please Don’t Invite Me To Your Station- Ortom Fires TV Presenter
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom is obviously not slowing down on his criticism of the rot that has eaten deep into the national fabric and the political system.
The governor who was on Arise TV on Wednesday morning to speak on varieties of issues confronting the nation was also on Channels TV on Thursday evening to continue his verbal attack on those he perceived to be enemies of the country.
Ortom who appeared on the Thursday edition of Channels TV Politics Today did not mince word about the division rocking the People’s Democratic Party especially at the leadership level. He was basically invited on the programme to speak basically on Atiku’s candidacy and the internal crisis in the PDP.
Trouble however started when the governor deviated from the real matter and angrily spoke about the insecurity and how it is ravaging the entire nation.
Ortom was trying to compare the situation of things in Nigeria with what happened in Afghanistan where bandits invaded the seat of power and toppled the seating president.
He said with the way things are going in Nigeria, he would not be surprised if bandits invaded Aso Rock and take over the control of power. At that point, the governor was cautioned by his host, Seun Okinbaloye who instantly rebuked such a development in Nigeria.
Okinbaloye told him such a statement is too weighty to be said on live show and to have even been made by a sitting governor and national leader like him.
The caution from the host angered the governor and instantly took him and his station up for it.
Governor Ortom told him if he doesn’t want him to tell the truth, he should stop inviting him to come and speak on their station. The governor accused Channels TV of being bias and always gauge their guests from speaking up against the ills of the society.
He said other stations are not like that. He accused them of being complicit with the deteriorating situation of the country.
The governor later apologized at the end of the programme, saying he was being carried away by emotion while making the statement.
Nevertheless, he had spoken his mind about Channels TV.
