Group condemns violent attack by gunmen in Ebonyi State

A group called the Amalgamated Ngboejeogu Youth (ANY) of Umuogudu Akpu, Ngbo in Ebonyi State, has condemned the violent attack unleashed on the community on Monday by gunmen suspected to be Fulani herders

It would be recalled that gunmen had attacked the community and destroyed property worth millions of naira in the early hours of Monday.

In a statement signed by the group’s president, Uche Ega; secretary, Samuel Okpr and legal adviser, Michael Odo and 15 others in Abakaliki, capital of the state, ANY says it condemned in strong terms the barbaric act by unknown gunmen and urged the government to rise to its primary responsibility to protect lives and property of its citizens.

It said that youths of the affected areas had gone on a fact-finding mission and discovered that the attacks carried out in four villages which include Ebele Umugadu, Otuebu Umugadu, Ndiegu Ibe-Agba and Odebo.

The group therefore appealed to government at all levels and corporate come to the rescue of people who were affected by the attacks, adding that some persons lost all they had labored for in their entire lives to the sad incident.
