Imagine My 85-Year Old Mum & My Sister In Bandits Den From March Till Now- Prof. Abdulazeez Attah

Family members of victims of Kaduna- Abuja Train attack has continued to express their agonies over the continuous stay of their loved ones in captivity.

Among the family members who recently voiced out his frustration over the development is Professor Abdulazeez Attah who has his 85-year old mother and his sister in the forest with the bandits.

The attack which occured on March 28 witnessed the abduction of several passengers traveling from Abuja to Kaduna while others were killed during the operation and many others escaped with gunshots injury.

The bandits were said to have demanded for the release of their members who were arrested and kept in prison custody by the Nigerian government. It was also reported that the deadly terrorists insist they don’t need money from the victims families. They said the government knows what they want.

Four months after the attack, hundreds of victims are still in the forest where they are kept by their captive. Although some of the victims have reportedly been released on negotiation while others were said to have been let go on humanitarian ground.

Agonizing on the development during the Wednesday edition of This Morning Show on TVC, Professor Abdulazeez Attah said he has not been settled psychologically and emotionally since his mother and sister have been kidnapped and kept in the forest.

He explained that his mother is 85-year old who has now been subjected to harrowing experience. He noted that the victims are made to sleep on a bare ground and under the rain. Some of them were bitten by snake, some are sick while others who were on medication are denied access to their drugs.

Professor Attah said he is ready to pay any amount to secure his mother and sister if the Bandits were ready to negotiate with families but they refused. So this makes it more difficult and traumatic for him to handle.

The university lecturer was of the opinion that the government is not doing enough on the matter. If government can’t consider anyone at all, it should think of the new born baby and under-age children among the victims in the forest.

By now, he expects some people to have been relieved of their jobs while others are thoroughly questioned on the attack but the government simply carries on as if nothing had happened.
