Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Those Who Tried It Before Either Lost The Election Or Were Never Sworn-in- Reno Omokri

More arguments have continued to spring up over the choice of APC presidential standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to pick a Muslim running mate.

Tinubu announced former governor of Borno State, Kashim Shettima on Sunday after weeks of controversies that trailed the possibility of choosing a Northern Muslim as vice presidential candidate of the ruling party.

Since the the unveiling of Shettima, Nigerians have continued to express mixed reactions that centre on religion connotation.

On Tuesday, Reno Omokri, former media aide to the ex-president Goodluck Jonathan revealed that nobody has ever tried such a permutation and end up winning the election. And those who managed to win it will end up not being sworn in.

The human right activist made this known on his verified twitter handle on Tuesday. Omokri who is an ardent supporter of Atiku Abubakar presidential bid apparently referred to the winner of the anulled June 12 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola.

Abiola who contested under Social Democratic Party ran a Muslim ticket with Babagana Kingibe from the same North East region where Shettima came from. He was the popular choice of electorate across the country. He massively won the election but was never sworn-in as president.

Omokri is therefore predicting that Tinubu who is the candidate of APC may end up loosing the election in 2023 or if peradventure he won, he may never be sworn in just like MKO Abiola.

Former PDP spokesman is of the opinion that history has a way of repeating itself in a situation like this and he is certain that Tinubu’s idea of Muslim Muslim ticket is a dead project on arrival.

He advised Nigerians to stop making issues out of it because it is an idea that can never fly in 2023.
