I Don’t Think Obasanjo Has A Better Candidate To Support In This Election Than Me – Atiku

Former vice president of Nigeria and presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has confirmed that he is on the same page with his former boss, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo.

Atiku stated this during an exclusive interview with Arise News Journalists which was broadcast during the Friday edition of Arise TV Morning Show.

Atiku was responding to the question bothering on his relationship with former president Olusegun Obasanjo and why he has not visited him like other presidential candidates from different political parties.

Recalled that Obasanjo had openly expressed his stance against Atiku’s candidature before now on the basis of corruption allegation. Obasanjo was said to have stated his regret for choosing Atiku as his vice president during his time.

In 2019, Atiku visited Obasanjo in Ota to seek for his support and the former president openly declared his support for his candidacy.

But unfortunately, he lost the election. This time, Atiku is on the march again and many believe he is no longer on the same page with Obasanjo due to public condemnation of his corrupt antecedence by the former president during their time in Aso Rock.

Atiku while responding to the allegation said whoever has any corruption evidence against him should please bring it up. He said so far, people are only speculating but no one has ever come up with facts to try him in the court of law.

Asked why he has not visited Obasanjo since he emerged as PDP candidate, he said there is no specific reason and he may decide to go later but he has not considered that for now.

He explained that he doesn’t think the former president has a better candidate to support for the 2023 election than him. He confirmed that he has Obasanjo’s support for next election despite the speculations that they are no longer in good term.
