Insecurity: My Heart Was In My Mouth While Traveling From Kaduna To Abuja For This Interview- Kaduna Lawmaker Reveals

A member of the Federal House of Representatives representing the Chikun/Jukun Federal Constituency, Honorable Yakubu Umar Barde has lamented the deteriorating state of insecurity in Nigeria.

The lawmaker who featured as a special guest on the Friday edition of Arise TV Morning Show described the current situation as pathetic and called on Nigerians to speak in one voice instead of being sentimental and tribalistic about the matter.

Honorable Barde whose constituency is one of the worst hit areas in Kaduna with banditry and kidnapping explained that there is no presence of government in his federal constituency and if there is any at all, it is not felt by the people.

He noted that there is no day Bandits will not attack one community or the other in the area. Most of the attacks are no longer reported because it has now been seen as a normal occurrence in the area.

Asked if he usually goes to his Constituency because of the incessant attack and high level of insecurity in the area, the Lawmaker stated that he is always present in his constituency. He said he has never spent two straight weeks in Abuja without going to his constituency.

He confirmed to Arise TV that he actually came from his constituency to their studio in Lagos because of this interview. While explaining his trip from Kaduna to Abuja on his way to Lagos, he said his heart was in his mouth during the journey to Abuja where he will need to take a flight to Lagos.

He said he was scared of being attacked by bandits.

Honorable Barde however disclosed that until federal government tackles the issue of insecurity headlong, Nigeria is in a serious crisis.
